Considering that I am into all different forms of “art,” I can say that it’s hard to determine where an artist is coming from when they create. One of the beautiful things about art is that it IS open for interpretation.
However, I dunno that I like this comparison. Not necessarily assuming anything about the artist (as I know absolutely nothing about her), I just think that this comparison brings about eerie thoughts and feelings that I’d rather not think of.
Was this simply a (strong) coincidence or was the artist trying to ‘say’ something?

That’s Michelle Obama and her daughter to the left, right? I don’t mean to sound ignorant, but who is that to the right? Is it Coretta Scott King?

Someone emailed me the actual picture of Michelle Obama and her daughter in church and next to it was the picture of Coretta and her daughter and the first thought that came to mind was- Coretta and her daughter were at the funeral mourning the lost of Dr. King so WHY in the world would you put the two together? I refused to send the email to anyone. I showed my mom-who happened to have been very close to the King children- and she was very upset at the comparison. The email was entitled something like “A penny for you thoughts” or something like that. So this artist did draw this, but there is an actual picture of this. Thank you for always keeping it real. abj
