One of the readers of this blog passed on a VERY interesting article.
For those of you who don’t know the fundamentals of reading (or just don’t have the time), let me give you a break down.
THIS article basically states that b/c women are given the right to abort a child without their partners consent, men should also be allowed to choose not to be responsible for a child if they feel that they were somehow “tricked” into being a daddy. The article goes on to say that women have been given the right to handle their bodies in whatever they see fit, yet men tend to have no recourse. Imagine if this were indeed a law all across the United States. There’d be a LOT of men crying foul on the daily.
While I definitely understand the subject’s viewpoint, I just don’t think that this is the greatest idea. What do you ladies (and especially men) think?

JayCee:As a young male, I’m almost positive that I have a differing opinion than most of my peers lol.
First off, I think being “tricked” into fathering a child would take nothing less than a woman poking holes in the condom or some other comparable event. Simply forgoing the use of a condom altogether and ignoring that no contraceptive has a 100% success rate is an automatic acceptance (from both parties) of the fact that a child could result from the act of intercourse and is hardly a “trick.” I agree that if this notion was to somehow become law, it would be heavily abused by men who would try to avoid responsibility for their acitons.
Furthermore, we must keep in mind that men and women are not necessarily equally involved during a pregnancy. A man can choose to be a supportive partner to his mate, fulfill some of his responsibilities while ignoring others, or he can choose to leave her altogether. However, a woman doesn’t have that luxory. She can either carry the baby to full-term or abort it. Therefore, I think abortion serves to LEVEL the playing field between the sexes instead of giving women an unfair advantage against men.
Of course if the man was actually tricked into becoming a father, this would drastically change things. But how exactly could anyone (a judge, jury, etc.) determine if a pregnancy was a trick or not? While I’m sure that there are probably some cases where it might be useful, I believe this law would definitely prove to be more counterproductive than beneficial.
People simply need to think about their readiness for children and come to some sort of concrete agreement BEFORE sex.
sbingram12:I personally don’t really agree with that. In my opinion, one of the big reasons women sometimes get abortions is because the father won’t step up. This will just give men an even bigger out when they don’t want to step up and take care of their seed.
Personally, I have no problem with abortion. This, however, is just stupid. You know the best way to bypass ALL of this? USE PROTECTION. It’s readily available, so I don’t know why people are still having this problem of getting pregnant when they don’t want to.
EveyJones:Heterosexual sex always comes with the risk of procreation (in the fertile).
The only way a man could legally try to defend this “right”, is that he would have to prove that he expressed that he did not want to have a child, had taken every precaution against having one, and that the woman maliciously went against an agreement to not have one.
It’s hard enough for ninja to strap up. Now they gon need notarized legal documentation and whatnot? Shiiittt. It’ll never happen.
B*tch Say What!!!:I know I’m in the minority, but I don’t think men should be forced to pay child support. I believe if child support wasn’t a must, alot of female would be alot more responsible as to whom/what they allow into their bodies.
AssertiveWit:I agree with JayCee, I see this as doing more damage than good. The idea of it, I think is good but actually being able to judge whether or not someone was “tricked”? No one can decipher that.
Sex has become just something people do in their spare time…like playing video games. It’s something to do. No one takes it seriously until they catch an STD or pregnancy enters the picture. Consenting mature adults are well aware of the chances of pregnancy, even when using protection. People need to stop fucking around and take this seriously if they don’t want to have kids with any ol’ body.
collected:low key i feel like dudes already do this…status quo nothing change…i guess they can opt out of child support.
how about use a condom…or dont have sex…women are the host to be baby…men arent being s host body comes with responsibility men wont ever know. the decisions involved to keep a baby are different for women than for men…men don’t have health related issues when it comes to pregnancy..therefore the laws aren’t set up to protect the non host body.
abortion is mentally draining as well a physically harmful. Men dont have to go thru that.
the non host can leave at anypoint and they can also sign over all parental rights to the host body if they dont want to be involved that includes opting out of child support
@Jaycee makes great , you cant get tricked into pregnancy especially if you took health in middle school and Biology in HS
if u have sex with or without protection…you have the chance to get pregnant
dinastyinc:If this passes, this is just asking for more of our tax dollars to be wasted by tying up the courts with more fuckery’ntomfoolery.
This is the perfect way out for a man to justify having unprotected sex, only to make the female abort the pregnancy later because he doesn’t want the responsibility.
I understand the logic behind it, but everyone’s right, this law would be asking to be absued. The courts would be backlogged for years with claims from every Tom, Dick, & Harry.
WellDamn24:A man shouldn’t have to be a father if he doesn’t want to be.
While two people laid down to make the kid, ultimately the woman makes the choice about keeping the child.
If I decided to keep my child I wouldn’t coerce the man into giving emotional or financial support. But I’m also the chick who would make the guy sign a document giving up all legal and emotional and financial rights to that child. If he ever contacted the child then he would have to pay back child support.
Like, don’t have me doing all the raising, then 30 years later when my child is hella successful this dude shows up talking about “I lub you! I’s your daddy!”.
